a link, because the image is kind of large i guess anyway, this screenshot is from saturday, but this funky watermelon flashing stripes thing just happened again, so i figured it's not a one-off thing. it's not... really an issue, just A Thing That Happens, usually when i let a page idle too long? but in this case i'd just clicked away from the forums to a different window when the uh. party started, i guess. and now i'd like to know why, because i'm nosy :? (also because i'd like to make it stop, if possible. it's kind of irritating
ok you know what it just evolved and i would Really like it to stop http://i66.tinypic.com/2ngbpzn.jpg
e/ switched out the images wiped all my custom css aside from blocking hustler popup, praying this is just a weird lil masquerade thing and i can put everything back to normal next week lmao
that is... very strange and i can't imagine what it could be. do you think it might be a browser-related issue? do you have any browser extensions/have you tried in a different browser?
i'm on safari 9.0.3 with exactly three extensions (adblock, turn off the lights for videos, feedly for rss feeds), and a whole host of custom css (from that handy thread in profile discussions, i think?), mostly stuff like fixed position for floating items and no hustler and no postcards. i don't know if it's a safari thing, mostly because i can't consistently trigger whatever this is so i can't hope to reproduce it in firefox; i started playing again back in august and this weird strobe party thing started just a few days ago (which is why i'm hoping it's somehow related to masq). it might be a css thing, but i don't think i've changed anything on that end for at least a month outside of removing no leashed pets to unhide the dance button in forums (and again in feb, for the kiss button).
It almost looks like a video card error...

Does to me also. Have you tried running a troubleshooter?
that's not something i know how to do? but i will def learn once i get back home this afternoon. there's also an el capitan update i've been delaying, which, who knows, maybe the problem is "an issue that prevented loading twitter t.co links in safari." i mean i just don't get why this would be happening now when i haven't changed anything in months, but at this point i'll try anything to keep that second image from happening again :v (but also, wouldn't a video card error be more consistent than like two or three strobe episodes on one specific website? i've never had to deal with something like this, so. assume complete ignorance.)
It does sound like something could be wrong with your video card. But you should also make sure that your browser is up to date and try disabling all your extensions for a while to see if they cause the problem. You should also try to check if the driver for your video card is up to date, too. And broken video cards can have quite a few different results. (Source: working in it support ;) )
i'm just happy to be pointed in the general direction of a solution, hah. i kind of wish this thing was easier to reproduce, because i don't know if i'll be able to tell if it's fixed? it's happened maybe three or four times prior to last night (where it did both the watermelon stripes and. whatever happened in the second shot, oy), so who knows if/when i'll see it again o:
anyhow, i'm about to step out, so i will report back later, after updating and running the apple hardware test, ooh
A lot of times it does get worse with time but I guess you can only wait and see^^ You could also try to google your model and something like graphic card problem to see if there is something generally wrong with your computer so you might get a refund for repairs from apple c: Good luck getting your computer to work properly again!
well uh, thanks for pointing me towards the video card, everyone? i did my backup and system update, and googling pointed me towards reseting nvram and ye olde apple hardware test, so i did both (hardware test says no issues found), so i guess i'm stuck waiting to see if safari decides it's time for a rave, which, hopefully it does not. at least this means it's just a me-issue, and not a subeta-issue, hah.
i tried googling for model + graphics card issue and it looks like the closest i get is a repair program for older laptops and graphics issues with os x yosemite, instead :c thank you for all the suggestions, though!! ;v;
